Shirley Zweifel

Shirley Ann Zweifel, age 68, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, May 21, 2017. She was born in Madison May 1, 1949, the daughter of Werner "Root" and Emerald "Emmy" (Alexa) Radermacher. She was a 1967 graduate of Middleton High School and was united in marriage to Richard "Rick" Zweifel on July 1, 1967 in Middleton.

Shirley loved people and worked as a waitress and cashier in many area businesses. More than anything, her most loved career was being a homemaker, and being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. Friends of Denise and Jim knew Shirley as "Mom." Shirley loved fishing, hunting, and sewing in her early years. She more recently was a member of the Verona Senior Center and enjoyed going on gambling trips with members. Shirley loved old time country music, and playing Euchre, penny poker, Bingo, and the Mexican Train game.

Shirley is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Richard "Rick" Zweifel; son Jim (Tracy Conroy) Zweifel; daughter, Denise (Shawn) Armstrong; grandchildren, Camille Zweifel and Eve Zweifel, daughters of Kristine Zweifel, Chazz Armstrong and Marissa Armstrong; sisters Meryl (Dave) Bomkamp-Hemann, Jeanne (Russ) Lerum, and Rose (Peter) Mueller; and brother, John (Jean) Radermacher. She is further survived by her brothers-in-law, Ronald (Raya) Zweifel and Marty (Tanya) Zweifel, and many nieces and nephews, and great- nieces and great- nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the CRESS CENTER, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:00 pm.

Also, they wish to thank Mary Hanson at the Verona Senior Center for all the help she has given to the family during this journey. Please share a memory.
