DeForest/Madison - Shirley L. Peat, age 81 passed away on Monday, February 21, 2017 at the Serenity Home in DeForest. She was born on July 5, 1935 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin the daughter of Royal and Eva Jewell.
She graduated from high school in Dodgeville. Shirley was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Peat on September 10, 1950 in Madison. Together they raised four beautiful children. Shirley was a proud mother, housewife and loved her children. She enjoyed baking and making pies and pasty. She loved to play Euchre, watching her favorite movies and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She loved the Packer as much as she loved being a wife. If you were to overhear her talking, she would often tell people she loved her girls; Lori Gilbert and Eva Peat. Shirley also loved family meals on Sundays and her cat Nemo.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters; Lori (Dave) Gilbert and Eva Peat and a sister, Janice Carey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth E. Peat, son Brian Peat, daughter Ramona Strahorn, nephew Warren Kienast and brothers and sisters.
An intimate service will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery Chapel on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Susan Schneider officiating. A time to gather at the cemetery chapel will be held on Friday from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm followed by the lowering of the casket.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to June Garvin and her staff for being her landlord the majority of her life and to Bridget Rogers for her sincere acts of kindness.
I will remember you, will you remember me? Don't let your life pass you by we've known. Fallen memories. Alzheimer's and Dementia is terrible. You watch your loved ones leave you before they leave you. RIP Mom, You sweet angel!
