Shirley Driewer

March 27, 1928 — January 17, 2017

McFarland- Shirley Driewer, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Four Winds Lodge in Verona. She was born in Madison on March 27, 1928, the daughter of Charles and Bessie Suetmeier. Shirley was a lifelong resident of McFarland. She graduated from Madison East High School. On April 11, 1948 Shirley married Otto "Bud" Driewer at McFarland Lutheran Church. She was an active member of McFarland Lutheran Church where she was the church secretary for over 20 years. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, baking and canning, cross stitch, gardening, and her beloved pets. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Al) Lauersdorf of Oregon; son, Dan Driewer (Skip Blick) of Greenfield; four grandsons, Tim and Matt (Vicki) Lauersdorf, and Adam (Angela) and Kevin Driewer; four great grandchildren, Trinity Ellestad, Olivia Bright, and Rhyeland and Aynsleigh Driewer; sister, Charlotte Vodak; brother-in-law, Dave Swendsen; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and six sisters. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the services, in the family life center. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Tuesday at church. Memorials may be made to Fetch Wisconsin Rescue. A special thank you to Dr. John Ewalt and staff of Associated Physicians, and to the staff of Four Winds Lodge, for their care and compassion. Please share your memories of Shirley.
