Shelly Gabris

Sun Prairie - Shelly L. Gabris, age 43 passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was born on August 4, 1974 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lauri Johnson and Victor Gabris.

In her younger years, Shelly had been awarded many ribbons for swimming and being in pageants. She was also very active in piano, tap, ballet, baton and junior basketball. She had a passion for collecting unique items such as bottle corks, skeleton keys, salt-n-pepper shakers and spools of thread. Most recently she began to enjoy the Secrets of the Ocean Pearl Parties. Her heart, yearning and desire relied on helping the vulnerable. Her passion was animal welfare and children. A proud professional moment was when she received her associate degree from Herzing University with an associate of science computer networking and security technology degree. Over the course of her professional career, she had worked as a licensed daycare provider and truck driver, which she proudly held every class possible for her CDL license. Shelly currently was working as a computer security analyst for the State of Wisconsin.

Shelly touched so many people's lives. Even though her time on earth with all of us was taken far too soon, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her mother, Lauri Johnson; her father, Victor "Vic" Gabris; two step children; Marie and Manuel Rivera; paternal grandmother, Wilma Castle; three sisters, Bobbi Jo Gabris, Jessica (Lee) McGuire and Samantha (Billy) Caraway; and two uncles, Jim (Debra) Johnson and Daniel Johnson. Shelly was also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Rose Guptill; maternal grandfather, James Johnson and maternal great grandmother, "Granny" Ruth Goetsch and paternal grandfather, Edward Castle.

A service to celebrate Shelly's life will be held at CRESS FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 12 Noon with Pastor Sandra Schieble officiating. A time to gather will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Shelly to the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, Wisconsin 53718.
