Scott Lovegren

Scott (Papa) Lovegren, 65, of Sun Prairie, WI passed away on February 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 17th 1957 to Roger and Barbara Balko in Hazel Crest IL. He attended Crete Monee High School and later at Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music. Scott was last employed by UPS but he spent the best part of his adult life being a dedicated husband, son, brother, father, step-father, and grandfather, a role at which he especially excelled. He taught his children that family means so much more than those born into it. Scott instilled into his children his love of sports and music; whether it was watching his beloved White Sox, or seeing Elton John in concert numerous times, or just cheering on his grandchildren at their sport activities. Scott was unapologetically a fan of Superheroes, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings, and passed those onto his children and grandchildren as well.

He is survived by his wife Linda (his high school sweetheart whom he found again after 35 years of separation); his mother Barbara Morgan (Pittman); his siblings Terry (Jan) Balko, Curt (Ivy) Lovegren, Claire (Sig) Kehr, and (Chris) Jill Saxton; his children Michelle (Mike) Wojtczak, Michael (Kathleen) Kucher, (Matt) Justine Dolezel, Buddy Wilson and (Corey) Kristina Edwards; his grandchildren Jocelyn, Gianna, Jacob, Carter, Jameson, Evelyn and Cora; Aunt Nelvia Pittman; and many nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.

To honor Scott, put on an Elton John album, pick up Lord of the Rings and give it a read, and remember those who instilled in you your love of life, the way Scott instilled and inspired everyone he touched.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie.
