Sarah Washburn

MADISON - Sarah T. (Sally) Washburn passed peacefully from this life on May 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Sally was born September 15, 1925 in Lake Mills, Wi. to Frank W. Tillotson and Ellen Faville Tillotson. She grew up on the family farm, along with her siblings, Elizabeth, Alice and David. Sally met her late husband, Dr. Walter (Ben) Washburn at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, and they were married October 25, 1946. They raised three daughters, Nancy, Barbara and Mary, who will miss her greatly. She will also be missed by grandchildren, Noelle (Joe), Tarpey, Sara Spring, Alex (Jen) Spring, Tim Leary, Amy Leary; great-granddaughter, Emma Luce; son-in-law, Mark Spring; and many other relatives. Sally dearly loved her family, flowers, birds, animals of all kinds, reading and travel. She and husband Ben were avid travelers, visiting countries all over the world, and sometimes including volunteer activities. Sally and Ben were long time members of Covenant Presbyterian, 326 Segoe Rd., Madison. A memorial service will be held there on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service. If desired, memorial donations appreciated to: Agrace Hospice, Madison Audubon Society (Faville Grove Preserve), or Donor's choice.
