Obituary

Sandra L. Florin, of Stoughton, passed away early in the morning hours on Friday, October 2, 2026 after suffering a stroke. Sandy was the oldest daughter born to Lola and Merle Berg. She spent a happy childhood growing up in Utica, and later, Stoughton, with her sisters that followed — “The Berg Girls”. (When challenges arose, her Dad always told her she should “Show ‘em she was from Utica” — and she often did.). She was baptized, confirmed and married at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church.

She married Tom Florin on February 18, 2008. She thought February 18 was a good date to be married, since it was the date her parents had gotten married 69 years before. It turned out to be a “good date” and she and Tom celebrated 18 happy years together.

Sandy worked at several places, including the Norse Chalet, VFW, Stoughton Hospital, Dean Clinic and Martin Luther Daycare. Her work ethic was strong and she made friends easily.

Sandy was a fierce, protective “Mama Bear” to her daughter, Amy, and her grandchildren, Dayne Anderson and Megan Anderson. She was her daughter’s best friend and an involved, fun and loving grandma to Dayne and Megan. There was no doubt that her family always came first in her life.

She was an artistic and talented home decorator and inherited her Mom and Dad’s green thumb. She loved gardening and grew beautiful flowers, vegetables and herbs. Her dogs, Mabel and Maggie, and cat, Mama Kitty, were beloved family members. She loved warm weather, long hours of daylight and sunshine and enjoying it all either sitting on her patio with a glass of wine or at dinner at a restaurant with outside seating with her husband, Tom or her daughter, Amy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Lola Berg, and her brother-in-law, Arlan DeBeir. She leaves behind her grieving and beloved husband, Tom Florin; her daughter, Amy Anderson; her son-in-law, Scott Anderson; grandchildren, Megan and Dayne Anderson; stepchildren, Kristina and Jeremiah Florin; sisters and brothers-in-law June Bunting (Jim), Beverly Thompson (Roger), and Audrey DeBeir; niece, Becky Petersen (Ryan), great nephew and great niece, Miles and Melody Petersen; and in-laws, Bob and Joyce Florin.

Per Sandy’s wishes, there will be no funeral or Memorial Service. Memorials may be made to the family or to a charity of your choice.

Rest in peace, Sandy. We’re all lost without you and you are forever loved.
