Sandra “Sandy” Lynne Junkeris, age 79 from Sun Prairie, our cherished loved one, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. She lived a wonderful life! Last March, she suffered a stroke and faced many challenges. Sandy was supported and surrounded by her family, friends and caregivers until her time she left this earth. After a courageous battle, she is now free and at peace while watching over her family and friends.
Born to Haaken Sigert and Edna Mae Sorenson. She graduated in 1964 from East High School and attended Patricia Stevens Modeling School in Milwaukee. She was later crowned Miss Wisconsin in 1965. She went on to work as a Teller at Anchor Bank, and then as a Teller Supervisor at M&I Bank of Hilldale. Then worked alongside her husband at Sound Electric and then EJ Construction building homes and designing and decorating their Parade Homes in Sun Prairie in the 90’s until their retirement.
Sandy married the love of her life, Ed Junkeris, on October 21, 1978. They created a loving blended family and would be celebrating almost 47 wonderful years of marriage.
Sandy will always be remembered for spreading love, laughter, joy and kindness to all those who loved and knew her. She was spunky and a known giver…always helping people, making meals (especially baked goods and caramels) to take to family and friends, knitting prayer shawls for people going through hard times, sending cards to spread cheer, baking Norwegian almonds cakes for bake sales, and volunteering at church. She loved the four seasons, the color blue and her holidays, especially Christmas. She was the family “Memory Maker” of special traditions that will be carried on. Her favorite Christmas movie was “It’s a Wonderful Life” and could recite it by heart as she watched it many times every year. She would say that it always reminded her to be grateful. If you needed anything, Sandy was there. Her laugh, smile and style were infectious. Many people called her “Sandy J” which was on her license plate and boy did she love to drive. During difficult times she would say “Leave it to God”.
Sandy is survived by her loving Husband Ed; Daughters Dawn Moret, Audrey Drake (Brad) and Diana Wipperfurth (Art); Grandchildren Natalia Weaver (Austin), Michael Gouldthorp (Jacquie), Cory Wipperfurth (Jenny), and Tyler Wipperfurth (Leah); Brother Dale Sorenson; Sister Bonnie Rooker; many nephews, nieces, great grandchildren and amazing friends she loved as family.
Sandy deeply loved her family and friends. Her light and memory will always live on in our hearts. We will forever miss her.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday October 25, 2025, at BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN CHURCH, 300 Broadway Drive, Sun Prairie with Rev. Ben Leeper presiding. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Burial will immediately follow the luncheon at Roselawn Memorial Park, 401 Femrite Drive in Monona. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the service at the church on Saturday.
