Sandra Bierman

Madison - Sandra B. Bierman, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at St. Mary's Care Center with her husband by her side. She was born on November 29, 1945, the daughter of Irving and Helene Feit, in Madison. Sandra graduated from West High School in Madison, and went on to attend UW-Oshkosh for two years, and received a degree in Business Administration from Boston College, with a minor in Fashion Design. She worked at Jordan Marsh in Boston, as a fashion buyer, before moving to Madison. On May 30, 1970, Sandra married John Bierman in Madison. She worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles with the State of Wisconsin for 32 years until her retirement. Sandra was involved in many organizations including, Lechayim with Jewish Social Services, the Wisconsin River Sportsman Club, Hadassah, the Red Hat Society, and was particularly active with many groups at Temple Beth El.

Sandra is survived by her husband, John; two sisters, Gayle Ginsberg and Shelley McNamer; four nephews; and Joe and Jeff who were like the children John and Sandra never had. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; one nephew; and her beloved dog, Scruffy.

A funeral service was held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Temple Beth El, with burial at Beit Olamim in Sunset Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra's name may be made to Jewish Social Services of Madison, 6434 Enterprise Lane, Madison, WI 53719; or the Temple Beth El Yerusha Fund, 2702 Arbor Drive, Madison, WI 53711.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the Erlanger family whose kindness and generosity gave us many additional and wonderful years with Sandra. The family would also like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Care Center, and a special thanks to Tenzin, for the exceptional care and kindness showed to both Sandra and John.
