With deep love and profound sadness, we share the passing of Sandy Axon — a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend to all who knew her. Sandy was a woman who left a lasting impression on everyone she met, whether through her radiant smile, the unmistakable twinkle of mischief in her eye, or her uncanny ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone.
Born on September 25, 1960, Sandy’s firecracker spirit always kept Donna Jaggi (mom), Frederick Jaggi (dad), Cindy Haberman (sister), Susan Olsen (sister), Jerry Jaggi (brother) on their toes. Her youth was the kind of roller coaster that would’ve had most people hanging on for dear life – but not her. She threw her arms up, screamed with joy, and made sure everyone on the ride had fun, no matter how bumpy the ride.
In 1984, Sandy met the love of her life, Kevin. He quickly became her and Michael's unwavering protector and loving provider. Kevin and Sandy were married December 6, 1985. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, grit, stubbornness, and an unshakable partnership that inspired everyone lucky enough to witness it. Kevin was her rock and the man who looked at her like she hung the moon for nearly 40 years of marriage (they would have celebrated their 40th this December — and she would have reminded him at least 40 times).
Sandy’s proudest and most cherished accomplishment was their son Michael. From the moment he came into her life, Sandy became a powerhouse of love and devotion. She instilled her love for baseball in him at an early age, always eager to pick up her glove for a game of catch. Her love for Michael was unmatched — selfless, unconditional, and fiercely protective. She extended that love fully to his partner Kalise, embracing her as family without hesitation, and found immense joy and pride in her grandchildren — Payson, Callen, and Avery — who lit up her world.
If there was one place Sandy found true comfort, it was in her dogs. Rocky, Shelby, Jessie, and Jazz were her constant companions, trusted confidants, and loving sidekicks. We find comfort in knowing she’s now surrounded by their wagging tails, sloppy kisses, and joyful yelps as her furry family welcomes her home.Sandy leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who cherished her, and a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and resilience. She taught us how to keep going when life gets tough, how to laugh even when it’s messy, and how to love deeply and without apology.
To celebrate Sandy’s life, we encourage you to crank up some Elvis, give your dog an extra squeeze, and maybe cheer a little louder on Sundays for Denny Hamlin. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
A celebration of life is being planned for this summer.
Please share your memories of Sandy by posting in her Guestbook.
