MADISON
Sally Ulrich, age 71, passed away on May 2, 2017 in Christus Spohn Hospital, Corpus Christi, Texas, while wintering in South Texas.
She was born in Madison on January 8, 1946 and was a lifelong resident of Madison's south side. She attended Central High School, Class of 1964. On Valentine's Day, 1964, Sally married her high school sweetheart, Tom Ulrich, also a lifelong Madison resident. She was a devoted wife and mother for 53 years.
Sally's interests were many. She was an avid user of Madison's beautiful lakes and was a past member of the Madison Power Squadron. She also loved to fish in both Madison and Canada. Sally was a lifelong dog lover and a past editor of Saintly Affairs, the newsletter of the Madison Area Saint Bernard Club. Sally grew beautiful roses and was a member of the Monona Bay Garden Club. Sally loved to watch NASCAR races and she and her husband both enjoyed motorcycle riding and racing.
She freely gave her time to the community, welcoming children from the neighborhood into her home and caring for and providing transportation to elderly neighbors.
Sally is survived by her husband, Tom Ulrich, the love of her life; their two children: Kim (Tom) Richards of Madison and Jeff (Mari Jo) Ulrich of Washburn, Wisconsin; a grandson Jake Richards of Madison; and her beloved Samoyed dog, Sally's Miss Madison (Maddy).
