Ruth Ann Smith passed away Monday morning, April 9, 2018 at age 91.
She was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on January 28, 1927 to her birth parents, The Irish's, but was later adopted at age 6 by the Palmers.
She attended Edgerton High School and graduated in 1945. After high school, she met Phillip, an Airman in the Air Force. They married on June 14, 1947. She became a mother in 1949, with her first daughter & her other three children Teresa, Ronald & Janice shortly followed. She was a loving and devoted mother and housewife and was dedicated to several volunteer ventures including 4-H and U.S.O.
In her later years, she enjoyed many things--including being a mother and grandmother, spending quality time with her friends, playing bingo and cards, and singing and listening to Delilah on her radio. Also, she loved doing arts and crafts for keepsakes. She was also a big believer in faith and God. Her best friend Blondie helped her find her Catholic faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband Phillip Smith, her adoptive parents Percy and Esther Palmer, brother and sister Robert and Dorothy, and daughter Teresa Kathleen. She is survived by her daughters Linda (Donald) Naparalla, Janice (Luther) Goin, and son Ronald Smith. She also leaves behind 4 granddaughters--Nicole (Garry) Harmel, Stephanie Goin, Lindsay (James) Mead and Taylor Newell-Smith and 2 great grandsons--Cody and Jacob.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison with Msgr. Kenneth J. Fiedler presiding. Family will greet friends, at church, one hour prior to Mass.
On Sunday April 22, 2018, friends and family are welcome to attend a celebration of Ruth Ann at Sienna Crest Assisted Living, 981 Park Street, Oregon at 1 pm.
A special thanks to Magnolia Hill Nursing Home, Sienna Crest Assisted Living, Care Wisconsin, St. Mary's Hospital, Queen of Peace and Agrace Hospice for caring for Ruthie & for loving her as much as her family does.
