Ruth Marie Roedell (Monum), 83 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 23, 2024, under hospice care after complications from a broken hip. “Ruthie” was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was born on July 15, 1941 in Mt. Horeb, WI to Ruth Ida Christine (Gerke) Monum and Arthur John Monum. She grew up on their dairy farm in rural Mt. Horeb with her brother Richard Arthur Monum. Ruthie and Richard “Rick” Roedell met in 6th grade, and it was love at first sight. They graduated from Mt. Horeb High School together in 1959 and were married on June 3, 1961. They built their first home together in Mt.Horeb, WI and soon had three children: Randy Richard Roedell (1961), Renee Marie Roedell (1964) and Robin Ruth Roedell (1967). Rick and Ruthie fell in love with a home on Lake Kegonsa in the early 70’s, and this is where they truly lived life to the fullest and created many joyous memories and a happy, loving home. They spent many wonderful years swimming, skiing, and spending time with family. Ruthie had an infectious laugh, a playful spirit and loved to entertain and socialize. She enjoyed watching soaps and doing crafts such as painting and sewing.
Ruthie was blessed to have three grandchildren from Renee and Dan Vedvig (Roxanne, Hillary, and Ashley); two grandchildren from Robin and Mike Hanson (Samantha and Sarah); and a loving daughter in-law Julie Timmerman Roedell.
Ruthie was a beloved great-grandmother to Colby, Louie, and Sullivan (from Roxanne and Scott Johanning); Roland Roedell (from Hillary Vedvig and Case Stiglbauer); and Henry (from Ashley Vedvig and Adam Popanz).
Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard Monum, husband Rick Roedell, son in-law Mike Hanson, and her daughter Renee Vedvig.
