Madison -- Ruth I. Rhodes, age 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 . She was born in New Glarus, WI on June 20, 19 18 , the daughter of John and Caroline Itten. She was baptized and confirmed at Swiss United Church of Christ. After graduating from New Glarus High School , she attended Groves Secretarial School in Madison , and then held many responsible secretarial and administrative positions in Madison . She attended Asbury United Methodist Church . She married William E. Rhodes on March 25, 19 44 and they enjoyed 63 loving years together.   William preceded her in death on June 12, 2008 .  Ruth was devoted to her husband and shared many interests with him, including travel, golf, and watching sports. She was also a loving mother. She is survived by her daughter, Janice K. Rhodes of Madison ; a nephew, Dr. Michael (Pat) Schuldt of Henderson, NV, and a niece, Carolyn Schuldt of Peoria , IL . In addition to her husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Verna Hawkins, Norma Itten, and Zelma Schuldt; and two brothers, Harvey and Alvin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 24, 2009 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road , Madison . A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Entombment will be at Roselawn Mausoleum Chapel.
