Ruth Elizabeth McNeill

Sun Prairie- Ruth Elizabeth McNeill peacefully passed away at her Sun Prairie home on Friday, June 29, 2024 at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Stephen and Mary Doyle, and united in marriage to David McNeill on January 20, 1951 in Highland, WI. Ruth deeply loved her 10 children and her growing family of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth was an active community member who brought a smile everywhere she volunteered - Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and the Sun Prairie School District. She was a fiercely loyal sports fan; always supporting her families’ activities as well as the Packers and Badgers. She enjoyed travel, with some of her favorite memories made in Ireland, Colorado, Cape Cod, and Arizona.

Ruth will be missed by her children: Sue (Lane) Slotten, Peg (Dan Pustina), Julie (Steve Baltzer), Andy Fritsch, Scott (Trish), Steve (Terri), Tim, Tom (Kim), Tricia (Bill) Kern, Mike (Jeanne), 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and sister Judy Meyers. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Mary Fritsch, and 6 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers who provided endless guidance, including the entire staff at Agrace Hospice and BrightStar Care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30am until the time of mass on Friday. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Agrace Hospice in Ruth’s honor.
