Ruby Dalsoren

December 16, 1916 — June 18, 2014

Stoughton- Ruby L. Dalsoren, age 97 1/2 , passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Azura Memory Care, surrounded by her family. She was born on the family farm in the Town of Albion on December 16, 1916, the daughter of Hans and Petra (Westby) Nelson. Faith and family were the two most important things in Ruby's life. She was a life member of First Lutheran Church and was active in Circle 21, Alter Guild and Bible Study. On December 10, 1938 Ruby married Alvin Dalsoren. Together they raised four children on their farm where they enjoyed farm life to the fullest by planting tobacco, raising animals, and hosting large family get togethers that always included lots of food. Ruby was a hard worker and enjoyed busying herself to the point of not sitting down. In addition to her life on the farm she was involved in many other activities, including Rebecca Lodge where she served as Noble Grand, she volunteered at the Stoughton Hospital Gift Shop and Sons of Norway, and was a cook for many local establishments. Ruby is survived by her three children, Patricia Jacobson, Roger (Joanne) and David (Michelle) Dalsoren; daughter-in-law, Sharon (James) Dalsoren-Lunde; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; son, Arnold; son-in-law, Merlin Jacobson; and siblings, Arthur, Roy, Norman, Percy, Cora, Lydia, Hazel, Mabel, Pearl, and an infant sister, Ruth. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2014 at First Lutheran Church, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the burial, at the Stoughton American Legion. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services Monday at church. A special thank you to Azura Memory Care and Agrace HospiceCare for their care and compassion.
