Royal Lunde

Stoughton- Royal J. Lunde, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation. He was born on the family farm on July 10, 1926, the son of Ralph and Josie (Anderson) Lunde. Royal served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division and was stationed in Europe and Austria. Following his honorable discharge he returned to work the family farm. On July 11, 1948 Royal married Marie Ziegler. He served on the Town Board of Pleasant Springs for over 16 years, serving as Chairman for most of them. Royal was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie; four children, Royal "Al", Mark (Diane), Kate and Mari (Dave) Johnson; five grandchildren, Britt (Andy), Lindsay, Matthew, Luke and Jenny; brother, Duane (Mary) Lunde; and many relatives and friends. Royal was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Luella and Arlette. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Covenant Lutheran Church in Stoughton. Military honors will follow the services. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Tuesday at church.
