Roth Watson

Madison-Roth "Buzz" Watson, age 84, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Agrace Hospice with his family nearby. He was born on July 11, 1931, to Rush and Amalie (Christen) in Dodgeville.

During his high school years in Barneveld, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, basketball and football. In 1953, he married Anita Fosshage of Mt. Horeb. Anita preceded him in death in 2013. Together they had four children, Scott, Tim, Kristen and Steven. Scott preceded his father in death in 2009. Roth was a devoted husband and dedicated father.

He was an U.S. Air Force Veteran and proudly served his country during the Korean War. After returning, he spent all of his adult life in law enforcement as a Deputy for the Iowa Co. Sheriff's Department. He served the Madison community with honor and distinction during his lengthy career as a Police Officer and Detective Supervisor for the City of Madison Police Department. After retiring, Roth started a private investigation agency serving attorneys, insurance companies and individuals. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners and the American Legion.

Roth enjoyed family camping outings, traveling with his wife in their RV and boating with their many friends, family and grandchildren. They also enjoyed the Packers and Badger football games and many other activities together.

Roth is survived by his three remaining children, Tim (Karen) Watson, Kristen (Robert) Mathies and Steven Watson. Roth loved and cherished his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A reception will follow.
