EVANSVILLE - Rose A. Smith of Evansville passed peacefully from this life into the presence of her Savior on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at home in the presence of her family. Rose was born on January 29, 1956, in Madison, the daughter of Francis W. Pohlkamp and the late Mary (Lynch). Rose was married to B. Brian Smith on December 31, 1993 and was the proud mother of Noah (19) and Jonah (16). A 1974 graduate of Middleton High School, she was a dental assistant and also recorded two gospel music albums. After marriage, she devoted her life to being a homemaker, mother, and home educator to her two sons for 13 years. She was a member of Oak Grove Church in Evansville.

Rose is survived by her husband, Brian; sons, Noah, and Jonah; father, Francis of Middleton; siblings, Julie Pohlkamp of Middleton, Christine (John) Biser of Waunakee, Colleen Peckham of Madison, Kevin (Nan Jean) Pohlkamp of Windsor, Mark (Sue) Pohlkamp of Junction City, Daniel (Patti) Pohlkamp of Portage, Mary Allen of Madison, Joanne (Preston) Sigmon of Middleton, Francis (Julia) Pohlkamp, Jr. of Middleton; and 38 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary; niece, Kendra; and great-nephew, Dakota.

A service to celebrate Rose's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Cress Center, 6021 University Avenue, Madison with Reverend Josh Brumbaugh officiating. Family will greet friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. A reception at St. Bernards Catholic Parish Hall, 7450 University Avenue, Middleton, will follow the service.
