Ronald E. Lange

Ronald (Ron) E. Lange, age 90, of Waunakee died on Saturday, Jan. 10,2026 at Hattie’s Glen in Waunakee. He was born on Sept. 25,1935 in Madison, WI to Herman and Katherine (Halverson) Lange. Ron attended Waunakee High School before he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from November 1953 through October 1957. During his service, he held the rank of Third-Class Storekeeper and served during the post-armistice period of the Korean War era prior to his official discharge. He married Dorothy Bollig on August 7,1958 and together they raised their family in Waunakee. Ron worked as a plumber and was later employed by the State of Wisconsin as a housekeeper until his retirement. He was a compassionate and social man and especially loved children. He treasured Sunday family gatherings filled with card games and Rummikub and was a skilled cribbage player. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and time spent in the North Woods at the boys’ cabin. He was a member of the Waunakee American Legion, Waunakee Bow Hunters and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy and children Jeff (Laurie), Tom (Connie), Sue Gattenby, Beth (Mark) Hofbauer, and Jenny (Jeff) Endres. Grandchildren Ben; Hailey (Michael), Russ (Amanda) and Christiana; Tayla (Zach) and Tanner (Ruby); Joe (Katherine) and Michelle (Deven); Sarah (Chad), Natalie and Nicole (Brady). Great-grandchildren Clara, Issac, Kylie and Neveah; Lucy, Maverick and Quinn; Madelyn, Grace and Kylie. Sister-in-laws: Carol Statz, Janice Pomeranke and Mary (John) Tveit; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda; parents, Herman and Kay; sisters, June Hoffman, Donna Spaeni and Sharon Peterson; and his brothers, Duane, Dick and Herman. Funeral services will be held on Tues. Jan. 20,2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
