WAUNAKEE - Ron W. Halvorson, was quickly taken at age 72, on October 16, 2016.
Ron was born to Walter and Marion Halvorson on May 17, 1944 in Rio, Wisconsin. He spent his formative years working on the farm, practicing trombone, playing softball and singing in the choir. Ron married the love of his life, Ardell Kehoe, on January 22nd, 1966. They made a perfect union and embarked on a life of adventure, respect and joy that would last for over fifty years. In times of celebration or strife, they always turned to each other for comfort, laughter and love. Their enduring partnership created the prides of his life, daughter Brenda and son Nathan. Ron loved nothing more than spending time with his children, helping them succeed and watching them grow. Ron's life became even richer when Brenda married Dan Lundeen and he welcomed his new son to the family. When grandchildren McKenna and Jillian were born his heart grew even more and he cherished his time with them and being witness to them mature into truly amazing young women.
He received his degree from Madison Business College in 1965 and quickly found work as the staff accountant at Cornland Fertilizer in Sun Prairie. Cornland eventually became Terra Chem-ical International for which he dutifully worked for 34 years, the last 14 being in the corporate of-fice in Sioux City IA. His work required much travel and time away from his beloved family, but he did it with the sole focus of providing for the ones he held most dear.
In 1973, Ron formed Comprehensive Accounting and worked alongside his brother to create a highly successful business that helped many individuals and small businesses to thrive. After Ron retired from Terra in 2001, he returned to Comprehensive full-time and they expanded it to include a branch in Madison. Although Ron loved to work, he officially retired in 2011. However, his belief in perseverance and determination allowed him to make both career paths fruitful and fulfilling.
Ron loved golfing (and always walked the course), bowling, taking the pontoon boat out on Men-dota Lake, traveling with his beloved wife, eating ice cream and chocolate chip cookies, solving problems, going to church and spending quality time with family and friends. But, what he loved most was being useful. Whether helping a family member fix a screen door or helping a friend through a tragedy, it was all the same to him. His job was to help others and he did it with grace and profound dignity.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ardell Halvorson; his daughter Brenda Lundeen (Dan) of Over-land Park, KS; his son Nathan of Colorado Springs, CO; his grandchildren McKenna Lundeen and Jillian Lundeen; his brother John (Diane) of Sun Prairie; his sister Joann Schmidt (Glenn) of Antigo; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home (1310 Emerald Terrace) in Sun Prairie on Friday, October 21 from 5-8pm. A Celebration Service will be held the following day, October 22nd at 11am at Peace Lutheran (701 S Century Avenue) in Waunakee.
