Stoughton- Ron "Mert" Lecy, age 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. He was born in Stoughton on October 2, 1944, the son of Mirth and Norma Lecy. Mert graduated from Stoughton High School in 1963. He worked for Jensen Furniture Store before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Saigon for one year. Following his honorable discharge in 1967 he returned to work at Jensen Furniture Store for over 20 years. Mert enjoyed tending bar for many years before he retired from the Stoughton VFW. He was a life member of the Stoughton VFW Post 328 and the Stoughton American Legion. Mert was an avid sports fan, especially the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. He enjoyed bowling, home talent baseball and fast pitch softball. Mert enjoyed spending time socializing with family and many friends. He is survived by his brother, Jim; beloved niece and caregiver, Vickey (Lyle) Wilson; niece, Linda (Tom) Paun; nephew, John; special friend and "Boss Lady" Jean Torgerson; special friend, Julie Bolden; and other relatives and numerous friends. Mert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan (Mike) Leslie; twin brother, Roger; nephews, Gary and Scott Stolen, and Steve Leslie; and niece, Susan Leslie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton. Burial, with full Military honors, will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, following the burial, at the Stoughton VFW Post 328. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of services Sunday. A special thank you to the staff of Agrace HospiceCare Inc., and to all of Mert's caring friends for helping him in his journey. Please wear Packer, Badger, or Brewer attire in honor of Mert.
