Bob Zeman
Bob Zeman, 91, of Waunakee peacefully passed away on May 26th, surrounded by his loving family members after battling cancer for 2 years.
Bob was born on February 25th, 1935 to Emma (Benish) Zeman and Charles Zeman. Bob grew up working on the farm with 11 brothers and sisters, so hard work became the norm for him. He grew up with no electricity or indoor plumbing and they used wood for heat. Any spare time Bob had he spent cutting wood and dragging the logs out with horses. Bob and Lois had their first date at a school dance and dated until marriage on October 13, 1956. Their first child, Julie, was born in 1960. Shortly after that, Bob joined the Army and spent time in Missouri and Washington. In Washington, son Bob Jr. was born. Eventually, they moved back to Waunakee and daughter Amy was born. Bob was a hard worker. He worked at Oscar Meyer for 31 years (never took a sick day). He retired from Oscar’s at age 50 and opened his own cleaning business, where he worked for over 25 years. Bob’s core values were honesty and integrity and he used that throughout his life. Bob supported the community as a member of the American Legion for over 45 years. He was on the Waunakee school board for 12 years (5 as president). Bob pulled the chains at the WHS football games for 54 years. Bob chaperoned busses for the senior center for 20 years. Bob played football, baseball and ran track in high school and continued to participate in sports throughout his life and continued to curl until he was 89. Bob loved spending family time “up north” teaching the kids to ski or fish and spending time on the water. Bob and Lois were lucky enough to travel during their 68 years of marriage, to many places throughout the world and truly enjoyed their adventures together. Bob and Lois truly loved music, dancing and enjoyed going to musicals and theater. Bob adored his children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their events. He loved to play cards with his kids, grandkids and friends. Bob was always available to help or provide guidance and support to anyone who needed it. Bob had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh which he passed on to those around him. Save A Buck Bob will be missed.
Bob is survived by his son Bob (Lori) Zeman, Daughter Amy (Jeff) Hein, Grandchildren Alex (Fiona) & Nick Zeman, Sam, Evan and Adam Hein, Great Grandchildren Everett & Audrey Zeman. Sister Ann Seeger, Brothers John, Tom, Jim and many nieces and nephews.
Bob is proceeded in death by his wife Lois (Mulchay), Parents Emma (Benish) and Charles Zeman, Daughters Julie and Mary, brothers and sisters, Arnold, LaVern, Betty, Violet, Joe, Russel and Chuck.
