Robert W. Burns, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. Born on December 9, 1948, in Madison, Robert was the son of Benjamin and Virginia (Dalton) Burns.

He was a proud graduate of Madison East High School. Robert dedicated 31 years of service to Oscar Mayer, beyond his professional life, Robert was a longtime member of the Eagles Club 623, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his community and the spirit of local fellowship.

On November 11, 1967, Robert married the love of his life, Linda Marie Buchanan. Their bond was the cornerstone of his life until her passing on September 3, 1998. While he navigated many years without her, his devotion to her memory remained steadfast.

Robert was a man of many passions. He found peace in the quiet of the outdoors while hunting and fishing, an avid fan of racing and race cars, he spent countless hours crafting model replicas, showcasing his patience and attention to detail.

Of all his titles—husband, worker, enthusiast—his favorite by far was Grandpa. His grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent watching them grow.

Robert is survived by his children, Robert Burns Jr., and Carrie (Brian Boeck) Burns; grandchildren, Mandie Wallom and Katie Wallom; great grandchildren, Gabriel Wallom and Chloe Klomsten; sisters, Debbie (Burns) Baumeister, Cathy (Burns) Fernandez; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by His beloved wife, Linda Marie Burns; his parents, Benjamin and Virginia Burns; brothers, Benjamin Burns, Frank Burns, and Ted Burns; sister, Margaret Burns.

Services will be held privately at a later date.
