Edgerton - Robert L. Stenli, age 72, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Mercy Hospital after his second battle with cancer. He was born on May 23, 1941, in Rockdale, WI; son of Daniel and Clara (Helgerson) Stenli. He was united in marriage on June 19, 1971 to Carol Engelke in LaCrosse, WI.
He attended Cambridge High School. Robert joined the Army and was a medic at the 64th Field Hospital at Fort Richardson, Alaska. He was employed at General Motors in Janesville for 41 years. Robert loved to bowl and in his younger years participated in many tournaments. Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also played cards and watched the Packers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carol of Edgerton; one daughter Lisa (Ryan) Arndt of Edgerton, two grandchildren Lindsey and Riley; two sisters Evelyn Inderberg of Spring Hill, Florida and Lucille Stenli of Fort Atkinson, WI and one brother Edward Stenli of Wisconsin Dells and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Clara Stenli, sisters Dorothy Peterson, Margaret (Muggie) Schmidt and Margaret Marie Stenli, brothers Daniel Stenli, Jr., and Norman Stenli.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect, Stoughton, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Friends and family will be invited for luncheon following the service. A private burial will be held at West Koshkonong Cemetery.
