Robert Paustian

On April 21, 2013, Second Lieutenant, Bob Paustian, climbed into his B-25 aircraft and flew his final flight up to God. He was 87 years old.
Robert Donald Paustian was born to Victor Paustian and Viola Burwell, in Davenport, Iowa, on April 25, 1925. He was the second child of three boys, Victor Burwell, Robert Donald, and William Howard. He graduated from Grand Community High School in Fox Lake, IL in 1943. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps to become an aviator, and after much training, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and flew B-25, twin-engine, medium bomber planes. He was assigned to a training command that taught hundreds of other pilots how to fly B-25s. He spent 30 months in the service and was honorably discharged.
After the war, he attended and graduated from Bradley University, where he met and married Gloria Jeanne Johanson on March 20, 1948. They were married for 43 years, until Gloria's death in 1991. They had four children: Linda, John, Matthew and Timothy. The family lived for many years in Wausau, WI. Matthew died in 1990. John died in 1992.
Robert Paustian was a devoted husband and father, and an enthusiastic grandfather, and had a decades-long career in sales and marketing for several heavy equipment manufacturing corporations. He was a talented watercolor artist and cartoonist. He is remembered especially for his kindness, fairness and sense of humor.
Robert Paustian married Mildred Kessenich of Waunakee, WI on June 17, 2000, and has been a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Paustian; daughter Linda and Jon Morrison and children, Ian and Wendy Morrison; daughter-in-law Kim Brattain and children of John, Daniel and Andrew Paustian; daughter-in-law Beth Paustian, wife of Matthew; son Timothy and Jamie Henke Paustian and children Jamisen and Jadrien.
A memorial service will be held on Sat. April 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 701 S. Century Avenue, Waunakee,WI. Rev Karen Locken will preside. The family will receive visitors at 10am before the service. A lunch will be provided immediately after the service at the church. The family would like to thank Senior Care of Madison, especially Mary, Pam and Judy for the wonderful care provided to Bob the past two years.
