A Life Fully Lived

Robert James Newell Jr., of McFarland, WI was born on May 13, 1953 in Peoria, Illinois to Robert James Newell Sr., and Gloria Cowell Newell, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the age of 72. Robert, affectionately known as Bob or R.J., was a recently retired Mechanical Engineer who dedicated 49 years of service to Alliant Energy. He was a proud graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

R.J. was married to his beloved wife, Gina Cuccia Newell, on August 16th, 1980. They enjoyed 44 beautiful years of marriage filled with love and companionship. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Rob Newell (spouse Emily, grandsons Robert Oscar “Roscar”, and Henry) and Lauren Zorko (spouse Michael). He also leaves behind his sister LeeAnn Meinhold (spouse Dave, niece Jill, nephew Jim).

R.J. was an avid boat owner who found joy and relaxation on Lake Waubesa. He adored his children and grandchildren and relished sharing his experiences and knowledge with them. He enjoyed long walks with his dog, Jax. His passion for life took him across the globe, where he embraced diverse cultures and made lasting memories. He was also a generous host to many foreign exchange students, enriching their lives with his kindness and wisdom.

R.J. was known for his gentle demeanor, patience, and unwavering respect for everyone he encountered. He lived a full and enriching life, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and dignity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Memorial Services to be held at McFarland United Church of Christ, 5710 Anthony St., McFarland, WI on Saturday May 31, 2025 at 12:30pm. Light lunch to follow.
