Robert Miller

Madison/Okeechobee, FL- Robert "Bob" LaVerne Miller, 79, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday January 27, 2016 at Hospice in Okeechobee Florida. He was born on January 16, 1937 in Madison, WI to LaVerne and LaVona Miller.

Bob was a 1955 graduate of East High School. On August 29, 1959 he married Phyllis (Pettey) Miller. Together they had six children. On December 25, 1979 Phyllis lost her battle to breast cancer and Bob was left to raise the children ages 3, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 19 on his own.

He was an avid Packer fan, loved fishing, spending time with his family and recently spending the winter months at the Big O in Okeechobee Florida.

In the 1980's Bob owned and operated the Number 9 liquor store in Stoughton, WI. Once his children grew up he moved to Lake Mills where he worked for many years at Crystal Farms, retiring in 2006.

Bob is survived by four sons Craig (Jeanette) Miller of Okeechobee, FL, Scott (Cinzia) Miller of Hudson, Mark Miller of Stoughton, Sean Miller of Arvada, CO; three daughters, Kristi (Rodney) Klein of Edgerton, Wendi Miller of Okeechobee, FL, and Debra Glenn of Cape May, NJ; 11 grandchildren, Cali Miller, Jordyn Miller, Anabelle Miller, Kezia Miller, Gavin Miller, Oliver Miller, Tess Klein, Carter Klein, Finna Miller, Aaron Miller, and Saint Barbosa; one great-granddaughter, Anayah English; two brothers, Steve (Janice) Miller of Broomfield CO and James Miller of San Diego, CA; one sister, Nancy Ahlert of Fort Atkinson; and his companion, Gilda McCurdy Okeechobee, Fl.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis Miller; and grandson, Blake Peirick.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Cress, and from 10:00 AM until the time of services Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of Okeechobee, Florida.
