Robert Hoskins

Waunakee - Robert W. Hoskins, age 71 of Waunakee passed away on Friday, December 21 at home with his loving family surrounding him. Bob fought a courageous 5 year battle with multiple myeloma and lung cancer. He was a best friend and loving husband of 50 years to Nancy (McGinnis), beloved father of Jennifer Wharton, father-in-law of Daniel Wharton and very proud grandfather of Kylie and Devin Wharton. He is also survived by his mother, Ernestine Hoskins and many nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Hoskins, sister, Janice Schroeder and a Grandson, Danny. Bob was born in Spooner, WI in 1941. He grew up in Madison attending West High School. During his career he was employed at First Wisconsin Bank and started his lifelong career with American Family Insurance in 1964 as a claims examiner. He was an insurance agent with American Family for several years in Waunakee and was later promoted to District Sales Manager with the company. He retired in 2002 after a very successful career in insurance. He was a member of the American Legion and Waunakee Rotary Club. Bob's friendly and gregarious personality endured him to all that met him. His favorite saying was "you can't beat fun for having a good time" and he lived his life with that attitude. He especially loved being with his Grandchildren and was a wonderful Grandpa to them. Visitation will be at the Winn-Cress funeral home on Hwy Q in Waunakee on Friday, December 28 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be at Peace Lutheran Church, 701 South Century Ave., Waunakee on Saturday, December 29 at 11:00am. The family would like to thank St. Mary's hospital staff and Agrace HospiceCare for their loving care to Bob during his final days.
