Robert Goller

Robert Goller, a true Renaissance man and WWII Veteran died Monday, September 14, 2026. Bob had two great loves in his life: Ruth with whom he had a family they lovingly raised together until her death; and Gay who took his hand to complete his journey. He is further survived by his children, Steve, Carol, Kim, and Amy, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a gadgetman, handyman, a man with numerous patents and even built the family home while working a full time job. Bob was a meticulous landscape gardener and enjoyed all things science, especially experimenting and demonstrating scientific principles. We knew him to be an inquisitive man, frequently asking how and why things worked. More importantly he was kind to all, respected by man and a philanthropist in the truest sense of the word. Ever the teacher, he modeled for us the importance of helping the less fortunate, forgiving wrongs, accepting others, demonstrating grace to all who paths he crossed. However, he was not perfect. He was a terrible speller.

Bob wrote that, to his family and friends an obituary is what you already know. His legacy was his life, and he leaves us with this written reflection.

“Weep if you must, but let the tears be of joy for the moment(s) shared, and not of despair, because of deeds and words spoken, or unsaid. And let the tears remind you of your own mortality: so that at your moment of truth (death), those tears shed for, or by you, are not regrets of what might have been”.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Bob on Sunday, November 1st in the All Saints Senior Apartment Living Room 8202 Highview Drive, Madison) at 1:00 p.m. beginning with military honors and refreshments to follow. Remembrances can be made out to Second Harvest, Habitat for Humanity – Madison, or Agrace Hospice.
