Madison - Robert Ewald Anderson, age 94, passed away peacefully at Sunny Hill Healthcare Center on Dec. 29, 2012. Robert was born Aug. 21, 1918 in Superior, WI to parents Carl E. Anderson and Borghild (Braaten) Anderson. In 1936, Robert graduated from Central High School in Duluth, MN. Robert joined the US Navy in 1944 and was an electrician's mate third class. He served in WWII until his Honorable Discharge in 1946. Robert met his wife, Joyce, at a square dance. They were married Oct. 15, 1951 and were dairy farmers in Baldwin, WI until moving to Madison in 1965. Robert was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for 45 years. He was employed as a machinist with the University of Wisconsin, Madison until his retirement. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Anderson, parents Carl and Borghild Anderson, and his brother Erland Anderson. Robert is survived by his daughter Carol (Jim) Brandenburg of Minneapolis; daughter Shirley (Dan) Dettmann of Madison, and grandchildren, Josh, Aaron and Melissa; son Donald (Beth) Anderson of Waunakee, and grandchildren, Cory, Carly, Cale and Casey; foster son Tri (Addie) Nguyen of Madison, and their children, Timothy and Arielle. Private services will be held in Minnesota.
