Robert Joseph Doeden, age 59, of Sun Prairie, departed the Earthly Realm on July 26, 2025, as the result of a stroke. The first child of Donald Jerome and Sandra Lee Doeden, Bob was born on July 9,1966 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bob was preceded in death by his mother (Sandy), father (Don), and second father (Jerome Lyons.) He is survived by his brother, Michael (Jennifer) Doeden, sister, Colleen (Eric) Gunderson, beloved nieces, dear cousins, and cherished friends, in particular his best friend of nearly 20 years, Bill Miller.
Growing up in Sun Prairie, Bob excelled in his role as the big brother… always watching out for his siblings. Childhood friends fondly recall frequent games of football and baseball at Sacred Hearts, as well as Dungeons & Dragons in the basement. His lifelong passions included video games, fantasy novels, and music - especially 70’s classic rock. His ability to sing off key, while remembering all the words and details about the musicians and album cover art was legendary.
His early career revolved around pizza, which remained his favorite food. He had a gift for technology and while working for Promega, he earned a U.S. Patent for a Bluetooth device. His longest and happiest employment was at the Prairie Athletic Club, his home away from home, where as the IT manager he became an integral part of the community spirit there. Bob loved the Club, and the Club loved him back. For decades, Bob was an avid racquetball player and happily shared his enthusiasm and expertise with anyone who showed an interest in learning the sport.
His infectious smile and endless kindness were the hallmarks of his personality. Bob never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome, heard, and appreciated. He will be missed beyond measure.
Bob’s family extends sincere thanks to the care teams at St. Mary’s Hospital and Agrace Hospice for their expertise and compassion in his final days. To all who knew and loved him, thank you for being part of his journey. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, an organization dear to his niece’s heart.
Friends and family will gather from 11-2:00 PM on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Cress SUN PRAIRIE with a memorial service to begin at 2:00 PM.
