Rickey “Rick” C. Hynes, age 70, of Oregon/Cuba City, WI. passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2026 after a brief illness of cancer. He was born on July 20, 1955 in Cuba City, WI. to the son of Lawrence Hynes. Rick met his lifelong partner, Karen Best in Belleville. They were together several years before finally getting married in 1997. They raised their three children together in Oregon. Rick graduated from Cuba City High School. After graduating high school, he earned his ASE certification and became a Master Technician. He specialized in auto body work. Rick worked at several auto body shops throughout his career, until retirement. He enjoyed working on cars, camping, drag car racing, classic cars, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson Brayden.
Rick is survived by his wife Karen, son Christopher Hynes, step-son Jeremy Moore and daughter Amanda Hynes (Justin); three grandchildren, Brayden, Nina and Cayson. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Diane Miller; brothers-in-law, Gary (Patti) Best and Scott Best (Lori); nephews, niece, and many other relatives and friends; four-legged best friends Huxley, Louie and Lover Boy.
He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Hynes, brother Randall Hynes, mother-in-law Ramona Best and brother-in-law Ace Miller.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to Agrace Hospice Care, especially Haven, Kristin, Jamie and Julie for helping Rick in his final days. They took amazing care of him and went above and beyond to support our family during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at Mount Vernon Tap, on May 30, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. 8646 Davis St. Mount Horeb, WI 53572
Rick will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him.
