Zillman, Richard A.

Madison: Richard Alan Zillman passed away on Saturday, October 17th. He was dearly loved and admired by his family and friends for his "love, guidance, creativity and generosity." He is survived by his wife Mary, their children and spouses: Chandler Zillman and Susie; Hallie Zillman and Tim Bouche: his brother Donald Zillman and wife Linda; and two cherished grandchildren Malia Zillman and Rebel Bouche.
Richard was a Madison native raised by the late Theodore and Helen Zillman of Shorewood Hills. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with an MBA in School of Business in 1971.
He was President and Creative Director of Zillman Idea Design Advertising which he founded in 1977. His innovative marketing solutions won respect and recognition from his peers and several hundred awards for exceptional creativity in print, radio and TV. In 2008, Richard was honored by the Madison Advertising Federation for his enduring creativity and contributions to the industry with the Silver Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Richard's passion for Madison was expressed in his numerous good civic works. He served as the chairman of Downtown Madison, Inc. and was an engaged and committed member of many other community boards including the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, CTM Madison Family Theatre, Kanopy Dance , Madison Parks Foundation and the UW Friends of the Arboretum.
A special thanks to all his friends who supported him near the end of his journey as well as the staff at Palliative Care, University Hospitals and the staff and volunteers at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg.
Richard touched our lives and his community in remarkable ways.

There will be a Celebration of Dick's life from 2pm until 4pm on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the UW Arboretum Visitor Center, 1207 Seminole Hwy, Madison, WI 53711. This will be an informal gathering for friends and family to get together and share memories of Dick.
