Richard Sparks

Richard "Dick" Allen Sparks, age 72, a resident of Madison, WI, formerly from Rochester, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at his home.
Dick was born on May 31, 1943, son of the late Warren Rogers and Ellen Morgan Sparks, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he grew up as a child. He graduated in 1960 from North Central High School. Dick was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Korea in mid-1960. His focal career for many years was as sole proprietor of Specialty Chemical Services while in upstate New York, from which he retired and sold his water treatment business before relocating to Madison.
Throughout the years he had enjoyed swimming, fishing, reading, the library, the shooting range, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. While retired, Dick volunteered for Catholic Charities of Madison where he valued visits and sharing stories with his friend, Al. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a good friend.
Survivors include his wife, Constance Sparks; two children, Kelly Sparks of Rochester, NY and Gregory (Carrie) Sparks of Madison, WI; six grandchildren, Morgan, Rachel, Cole, Nicholas, Lauren and Stephanie. He is also survived by his brother, John Morgan Sparks of Bonham, TX and his sister, Kay (Steve) Evans of Colleyville, TX, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert Sparks and Thomas Sparks.
In honoring his wishes, a private family and friend gathering was held. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
