Fitchburg, WI -- Richard Arthur Simoneau (Dick), 83, died Wednesday, February 11th, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen (Kuka) Simoneau, sons Wayne Simoneau and Neal Simoneau, daughters Sonia Simoneau Sieben (Patrick Sieben) and Karin Simoneau (Mark Searls), grandchildren Paige, Eryn, and Devin Sieben, and Ethan and Charlie Searls, sister Lucille Shockley (Chuck), and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Dick was a loving and proud husband, father, and grandfather.
Born in North Smithfield, RI, to Edward and Marie Antoinette Simoneau, Dick moved to California shortly before his senior year of high school. He met his wife, Helen Kuka, on a blind date at a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game, and they were married in 1966. They eventually made their way to Minnesota, Helen's home state.
Dick spent the majority of his life working at XCel Energy's Sherco power plant and living in Big Lake, Minnesota. After retiring in 1995, he spent the last 14 years in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on June 19th at 2 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI.
