Richard Prosa

DEERFIELD - Richard H. Prosa, age 83, passed away on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Deerfield Place. He was born on Sept. 9, 1930 in Neillsville to Lee and Ruth (Knutson) Prosa.
Richard worked at the Ray Anderson farm until he was drafted in 1952. He served in Korean War as a teletype operator and returned to farming with his brother Bernard after his discharge in 1954. Besides serving on the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department for countless years, Richard spent his post-farming years working at Sta-Rite and then Central Ceiling. He enjoyed the occasional trip to Las Vegas to play Keno and may have stopped downtown to get on the occasional sporting pool. Although he was not blessed with the gift of gab, Richard was known to have a good sense of humor and to be very reliable to those he befriended in life. As Richard's health deteriorated recently, he bravely chose to terminate his dialysis treatments and leave on his own terms. He will be missed.
Richard is survived by sister Lorraine (Donald) Zuelke of Bemidji, MN and ten nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings Robert, Bernard (Joyce), Lowell (Fern) Prosa, and David (Gloria) Prosa.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11 am at Deerfield Lutheran Church, 206 Main St, with the Rev. Larry Sexe officiating. Visitation will take place at church on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service. A lunch at church will follow services.
