Richard Paynter

Richard V. Paynter, age 83 of Madison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at his home. Richard was born on February 9, 1933, in Fort Atkinson, son to William and Ruth ( Hart) Paynter. In 1959 he was united in marriage to Janice Warner in Madison. Richard graduated from Madison East High School and then later the University of Wisconsin with a master's degree in applied art. Richard worked for Forest Products Laboratory as a graphic designer until retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and loved bird watching. Richard was a good father and could always be counted on when help was needed. Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years Janice; his daughters Kaethe (Chris) Paynter, Leslie (Yohann) Champagne, Kristen (Robert) Clarfeld and Robin (Neil) Paynter; his grandson Tristan Rondou; and his brother Thomas (Lucy) Paynter. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison Audubon Society or Nature Conservancy.
