Richard Roy Hayne was born on July 23rd, 1953, in Seattle and grew up and graduated in 1971 from Middleton. For his 3rd birthday he received his first drum set – and a star was born. Rich started his first band at 12 years old and spent most of his life entertaining people. He toured with the rock band PUNCH in the 70’s. His persona eventually morphed into “Vito”. Little Vito and the Torpedoes toured the Midwest for over 40 years. When full time touring was no longer viable, he worked for American girl and spent the next 24 years with dual careers until his retirement 5 year ago.
Rich loved people and people loved Rich. Colleagues and fans alike always counted on him for a great time and genuine smile. Along the way Rich found his true love, Gini Black and spent the last 12 years with her – she brought him love, comfort and peace.
He is survived by his wife Gini; sisters Char, Nancy and Donna; many other family members and many dear friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents and sister Roberta (Bobbie).
A private service was held at Cress Funeral Home for close family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Rich left us too soon but:
“If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one night stand
If there’s a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they’ve got a hell of a band”
