Ria Suchomel

SUN PRAIRIE - Ria Suchomel, age 88, passed away on December 18, 2015 at the Willows Nursing Home in Sun Prairie. She was born March 1, 1927 in Germany, the daughter of George and Maria (Benz) Emmerling. Ria married Reinold Suchomel on September 23, 1948, in Bad Kissinger, Germany. They moved to Sun Prairie in December of 1948 after Reinold's discharge from the U.S. Air Force. They were married for 57 years. She was employed at Wisconsin Porcelain for 10 years. Ria was a member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars-Auxiliary, volunteered for the Red Cross and other charities. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Suchomel; sisters, Inge (John) Holmes, Ingrid Leonard and Ruth Von Der Grun; nieces, Tammy Cassel and Susan Gil, other relatives and friends.

Ria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law, Martha Suchomel, brothers, Charlie and Horst Emmerling and sisters, Karin Smith and Elizabeth Lief.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 221 Columbus St., Sun Prairie on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will follow at Sacred Hearts Cemetery.
