Madison - On October 17, 2013, God released Robert R. Wrobbel, age 79, from complications of Alzheimer's and took him home to be with Him. Bob was born on October 7, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Harvey and Edith (Button) Wrobbel. He married Thelma Ewert on July 1, 1961.
He proudly served two years in the United States Army in the 3rd Infantry Division. In 1963, Bob graduated from Moody Bible institute and then in 1965 graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He served as pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Bayfield, WI and Elim Baptist Church in Madison. He then spent many years working as a social worker at Attic Correctional Services. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed playing "Old Timers Hockey", reading and most of all cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Thelma; three daughters: Annette Wrobbel, Andrea (Jon Ong) Wrobbel and Alison Lockridge; three grandchildren: Park and Farren Lockridge and Duncan Ong; his sister, Faith Keene and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Harvey.
A celebration of life will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance, 517 North Segoe Road, Madison, Wisconsin 53705.
