Reve Szymanski

April 25, 1925 — March 9, 2013

Sun Prairie/Stoughton- Reve Brown Szymanski passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in Stoughton. She was born in Arkansaw, WI on April 25, 1925, the daughter of Herbert and Marion (Schlumph) Brown.
Reve graduated from Durand High School and Milwaukee State Teacher's college (presently UW-Milwaukee). While there, she was a member of Lambda Phi Chi Sorority. Reve married her college sweetheart, Gil Szymanski, in 1948.
Reve taught at Rawson School in South Milwaukee and at the Southern Center in Union Grove. She was a charter member of the Junior Women's club of Union Grove, a member of the Twentieth Century Club of Sun Prairie, Colonial Club of Sun Prairie, Pepin County Historical Society, the WI State Rosemaling Association and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 333.
Reve took classes for many years in ceramics and Rosemaling, and entered many Rosemaled pieces to be judged and sold at the yearly State Rosemaling exhibition held in Stoughton. She enjoyed her painting, reading, working crossword puzzles, visiting with friends and sewing. Reve was an avid fan of the Packers and the UW Men's basketball.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Douglas) Christenson of Stoughton; son, Greg (Nancy) Szymanski of Madison; brother, Herb (Shirley) Brown; uncle, Frank Schlumph; three nieces; and several special cousins. Reve was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gil; an infant sister; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
According to Reve's wishes private family services will be held at a later date.
