Madison - Reinhart Herman Postweiler, 84, of Madison, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday July 22, 2014 in Sarasota, Florida. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Herman and Herta Postweiler on January 5, 1930, he and his family later moved to Madison where he spent the majority of his life.
"Reini" was an accomplished man with many interests ranging from racing cars to creating stained glass works of art. An avid hunter and fisherman who was drawn to the outdoors, he took many trips to Canada, Montana and Alaska, creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Survived by his loving wife, Debbie, of 23 years, he was also the proud parent of his three children, James Postweiler (Jeani) of Park Ridge, Illinois, Julie Johnson (Greg) of Wilmette, Illinois and Patty Pyrz of Champaign, Illinois. In addition, he thoroughly enjoyed being "Opa" to his six grandchildren.
He served in the US Navy in the late 1940's before pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Later, he earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from UCLA in 1956. His career included working with the Bechtel Corporation of California, the Bureau of Engineering at the State of Wisconsin, and then Flad Affiliated Corp of Madison, where he retired as Chairman of the Board. Throughout his career, he was an integral part of the Madison business community, serving on many boards in an active leadership role.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to Doctor's Hospital and Tidewell Hospice, both of Sarasota, Florida. The care and compassion they provided will always be remembered.
Private services were held in Madison.
