Obituary

Rebecca Berens, a beloved mother, sister, daughter and friend peacefully departed this world on May 2, 2026 at Agrace in Fitchburg, WI after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness.

Born on November 17, 1972, in the heart of Madison WI, Rebecca was the cherished daughter of Bonnie Berens and the late David Berens who along with her paternal and maternal grandparents, preceded her in death. Her warmth and vibrant spirit live on in the hearts of her children Clara, Gabriel and Genevieve Jacobs, her former spouse John Jacobs, her brother Andy Berens and a large loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.

Rebecca‘s journey through life was marked by her dedication to education and personal growth. Growing up on Russett Road under the towering oak trees of the Orchard Ridge neighborhood in Madison, she attended Orchard Ridge Elementary and Middle School and graduated from James Madison Memorial High School in 1990. Her passion for beauty and care led her to the Providence Schools Of Cosmetology where she honed her skills and creativity. Rebecca later furthered her education at Edgewood College, earning a degree in Child Life.

As a young girl, Becky enjoyed dance lessons and recitals. She also played softball, tennis and soccer for the Huegel Eagles, coached by her father. She grew to relish the nostalgia of 80's movies and often engaged in lively karaoke sessions that showcased her vivacious spirit. Her love for theater and music was only rivaled by her enthusiasm for culinary adventures, particularly her fondness for sushi. Rebecca found joy in the simple pleasures of life whether it was knitting a cozy scarf, crafting unique pieces of jewelry or spending cherished moments with friends and family.

Known for a quick wit and infectious humor, Rebecca had an unparalleled ability to lighten any room with her laughter and kindness. Her readiness with a joke and her genuine warmth made her a treasure to be around.

Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to celebrate Rebecca‘s life consider donations to Agrace in Fitchburg, a place that provided her with comfort and care in her final days.

Rebecca Berens will be forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed and eternally remembered.

In keeping with Rebecca's wishes, the family will hold a private gathering to honor her life.

Please share your memories of Becky by posting in her guestbook.
