Raymond Pittenger

Sun Prairie - Raymond "Ray" Phillip Pittenger, age 76 passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on March 26, 1938 in Sparta, Wisconsin, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Sullivan) Pittenger.

Ray grew up in La Crosse and graduated from Aquinas High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960. From 1956 to 1972, Ray was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Kane, who is the mother of his four daughters. In 1985, Beverly "Peggy" LaHaie came into Ray's life and they were happily united in marriage in 1987 until her death in 2005.

Ray was a very proud, hard-working man. Throughout his life he worked a full time job, while also running his own successful commercial maintenance business, IAMCO. He worked for Greyhound from 1962 to 1983 and later, worked for Diesel Injection Service until his retirement in 2005. In his younger years, Ray enjoyed acting in the local theater and had a life-long love of music and dancing. He had a gift for turning strangers into great friends with his quick wit and humor. Ray was a packer fan and enjoyed watching the games with his daughter, Katy. He looked forward to breakfast with his good friends at the Country Caf� and was happy to tell a good story or have a healthy debate on politics. Ray was always open with his affection and touched many hearts. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his four daughters; Kelly Sullivan, Katy Blumenstein, Kristy (Bill) Kluender, and Kerry Smith, four step children; Gay (Ned) Curtiss, Chris (Stacy) LaHaie, Toni Layton, and Kirk (Kelly) LaHaie, seven grandchildren; Krystal (Eric) Powell, Tim and Grace Sullivan, Jake Oberwetter, Mitchell Kluender, Shanna Kronberger and Travis Smith, five great grandchildren; Katalina, Layla and Julian Sanchez, Ethan Powell, DJ Kronberger; his sister Rosemary (David) Gerisch; his brother Michael (Jeannie) Pittenger and seven cherished nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Peggy.

Memorial services will be at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jerry Amstutz officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be made in memory of Ray to Dane County Veterans Service Office.
