Raymond Ashton Person passed away on June 13, 2013 at the age of 83 due to complications of congestive heart failure.
He was born on July 11, 1929 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Bernice and Ralph Person.
The family moved to Salida, Colorado and Raymond was graduated from Salida High School. He was a member of the "S" Club Lettering in Varsity Football, Basketball and Track, Masons Demolay and receiving a Scholastic Scholarship to Denver University. At Denver University he was a member of the varsity football team.
In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a Radio/Air Man in the 772nd Patrol, serving during Korean War and Honorably Discharged in 1953.
Upon his discharge from the Navy he attended Boulder University in Boulder, Colorado.
In 1956, Raymond met and married Mary Emily Klaus.
They moved to Madison, Wisconsin.
Raymond attended University of Wisconsin School of Engineering and Graduated in 1964 receiving his degree in Civil Engineering and became a member of the Professional Civil Engineers. He was hired in 1964 by the State of Wisconsin Highway Commission, where he worked until his retirement in 1994.
Raymond was a master carpenter and avid fisherman. He was a fan of sports of all kinds. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and took interest in their activities.
Raymond is survived by wife of 56 years Mary and their children and grandchildren: Emilie S. Person (Melanie and Aileen), Jane L King (husband James, William and Courtney), Clifford A. Person (wife Lisa, Josephine and Vincent). Siblings: Norma Briola, Teresa Ferguson, Raedean Person and Gerald Person.
Raymond as preceded in death by his parents: Bernice and Ralph Person and brother, Floyd Person.
All men leave a legacy, valuable and lovingly held close - this man, no different than many but will always stand above all others in our lives.
