Raymond Orvis

Sun Prairie - Raymond Arnold Orvis, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Prairie Gardens in Sun Prairie. He was born on July 3, 1921, the son of Austin and Ella (Riddle) Orvis. Raymond was a WWII combat veteran, having served honorably from 1942-1945 with the 33rd Infantry Division in the Philippines, New Guinea and Japan. He was united in marriage to Jewell Reuter on June 25, 1948 in Madison. Raymond was retired from the Dane County Highway Department after 33 years of service.

He is survived by his children, Gerald Orvis, Kirk Orvis and Connie Murphy; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Orvis; grandchildren, Aaron (Jodi) Orvis, Susan (William) Brinson and Heather (Mickael) Fonteneau; great granddaughter, Sage Mills; sister-in-law, Doris Orvis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Rosemary and a brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 550 Lincoln Drive, Sun Prairie, on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Richard Blomker officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, August 23, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
