Raymond "Ray" J. Berdal age 87 passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday August 19, 2012 with his loving and caring wife of 49 years by his side. Ray was born in Stanley, Wisconsin on July 16, 1925 the son of Andrew and Julia (Maslanka) Berdal. He is a graduate of Stanley High School. Ray retired from the United States Air force after serving 21 years. Ray attended the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration. On July 29, 1963 Ray was united in marriage with Joyce Wood. As a computer programmer he worked for the Department of Defense Mapping Service in Washington D.C. and for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Ray is survived by his wife, Joyce and his 2 cats Molly & Max; sisters Irene Slowiak of Mesa, AZ; Mina (Gordon) Sproed of Kelso, WA; and Helen Sloviak of Stanley, WI. Sister-in-laws Willowdean Berdal and Verona Berdal and many nieces and nephews. Ray was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Walter (Elizabeth), Paul, Albin (Roscella), Edward (June), and Lawrence; sister Albina (Don) Jerrell; brother-in-laws Edward Slowiak; and Alex Sloviak.
Visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 East Washington Avenue on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 9:00 -11:00 am. Committal Service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park with Military Honors at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Dane County Humane Society, Goodman Community Center or Monona Senior Center.
