Rabah Gueffry

MADISON - Rabah was born on December 3, 1924 in Ouzellagneu, Algeria to Fatima and Ahmed Guefri. He was proud of his Berber heritage. At the time of
his birth Algeria was a French colony and he was conscripted into the French army. After his military service he obtained French citizenship and was
employed in the Administrative Division of the French Ministry of Education for over 50 years. His last posting was in Chambery, France whee he continued to have a residence until last year.

Rabah married Melanie G. Ramey. Together they traveled to many countries and states. He was very fond of American cities and benefitted from
many kind Americans when he frequently got lost exploring new places.

In addition to Melanie hs is survived by a brother, Areski in Algeria, many nieces and nephews, a special cousin, Yahia Ait Yahia, Lyon, France and many
Friends in France. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.

After a series of small strokes a year ago he developed vascular dementia which caused him to become disoriented and drastically changed his life.
With the help of two wonderful caregivers, Ellie Sarmadi and Dean Olsen he was able to have a good quality of life until his death. He remained at home and was safe and well cared for. Special thanks are due to Home Health United Hospice and its outstanding staff for their support and cane and Dr. Luke Bradbury, UW Department of Neurology. Burial will be private at the Natural Path Sanctuary. A Celebration of Rabah's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway, Madison.
