Deerfield - Phyllis Milinowicz died peacefully at home on February 13, 2016. She was born on November 19, 1924 to Mary (Hahn) and Carl Mavis in Lake Mills, WI. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1942. In 1946, she met her husband Lawrence Milinowicz and they were married later that year. They lived in Lake Mills and later in Deerfield, where they raised their four children. Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother. She worked as an office manager for Gullickson Trucking, Inc. in Deerfield for 27 years until her retirement in 1989. She was active in her community as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Parent Teacher Organization for Deerfield Schools. She was also an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, serving on the Women's Alter Society and church choir.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Mary (William) Borer of Jonesport, ME, Kathryn (Lyman) Lyons of McFarland, WI, John (Kay) Milinowicz of Fredericksburg, TX, and Ann Milner (partner Glendan Rewoldt) of Stoughton, WI; grandchildren, Audra (Ryan) Dalsoren, Brett (Danielle) Olson, Mindy (Mark) Halverson, Emily (Ben) Nachtrieb, Joren (Shi Yun) Lyons, Megan (Allan) Lynch, Kim and Jesse Milinowicz; great-grandchildren Brenna and Braden Dalsoren, Guinevere, Roslyn, and Evan Olson, Emery Halverson, Aven and Brom Nachtrieb, Alida and Sylvie Shi Lyons, Kaylee Lynch, Zakary Milinowicz, Jonathan Valdez, Cassandra (Jonathan) Garcia, and Courtney Perez; great-great grandchildren, Arianee and Azariah Garcia, and Winfred Valdez. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Eleanor Vesper and Bernice Larson.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Aster Assisted Living in Cottage Grove for the care they provided Phyllis to make her last two years comfortable in her final home. The family also wishes to thank Agrace hospice staff, especially Leah, Carmen, and Trish for their care and loving support during the past year.
Funeral services will be held at Cress Funeral Home at 201 Bue Street, Deerfield on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.. Friends may greet the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rock Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Phyllis's name to Agrace.
